Another day
Tonight Annie weighs 2 lb 14 oz. Today she has been a little refluxy and she had one serious desaturation where her heart rate dropped very low--this has become sort of a normal occurance and may continue until her brain is mature enough to remember to remind her lungs to breath. She has other desaturations often as well, where her O2 levels drop significantly and the nurse has to turn up the O2 flow. Right now she is still on the nasal canula at 1-1/2 liters of flow of 26% O2 (21% is room air). She is still receiving fortified breast milk at 21 ccs over a 1-1/2 hour period of time and is no longer on TPN (veinous nutrients feedings). She still has a murmer as well, which means her PDA valve has not yet closed. Nicki got to hold Annie today skin to skin when the nurses changed her bed and moved her to a new isolette. This happens every two weeks. It was a very blessed experience for Nicki to hold Annie. I missed out on it because of work etc. We are assured that what Annie is going through is basically the norm for a premie of her age. We thank you all for your continued prayers for her!
