This is Ryan and I am going to try and keep everyone updated on here with regard to our hospital experience as it progresses. So, on Thursday, July 14th we came in to the U of U hospital because Nicki was bleeding. She is 23-1/2 weeks pregnant. That night things slowed down and, after observing her for a while in L&D they took us to a room in ante partem with a great view of SLC. We were in that room until about 1AM this morning when Nicki had more bleeding and they rushed her back to L&D. We slept off and on through the early morning while they measured things etc. Both Nicki and the baby are doing well. The prognosis is that there is a tear in the placenta (they found a portion of it on ultrasound this morning), and that is causing the bleeding. Early this morning the doc came in and basically said there is a 1% chance we will go home before delivering. So....we are here for a while it looks like. Is this really happening to US? I've seen this as a hospital chaplain at St Marks, but it's always someone else, not us! It's definitely a roller coaster ride. So, now the latest thing is that they are administering Nicki magnesium which is proven (just in the last four years) to decrease the chances of brain hemmoraging and cerebral palsy in premature babies significantly. This is a good thing! The side effects of the mag though can be pretty substantial to Nicki--she is already feeling very hot and tingly all over.
I'll try and keep this updated as we go. The baby girl is very healthy they say and has a powerful heartbeat. We've done the steroid injections to help with lung development and feel like everything possible is being done that can be done right now. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. More later....
Oh, Ruby and the kids REALLY enjoyed being in the hospital for a visit yesterday! Also, thanks to both of our families our kids are being fed and clothed!

Oh shoot. I hope things get more manageable soon and you can go home! Hospital life isn't the greatest. Glad Ryan has this time off from work! Blessings always happen in the midst of hardships. Lots of love and prayers to you.
Oh good your at U of U! The best care place to be! They took such great care of my premie. I can relax. No matter what happens, your at the right place. Dear Nicki you sweet thing, hang in there! Your other beautiful children will be well taken care of! Just relax and concentrate on the little one inside of you. Hopefully she can stay inside and grow alittle longer. I had my girl at 28wks at 2 lbs. Leave the rest to Heavenly Father. I already said a prayer for you and your family. Love ya, Tara (your old babysitter) : )
